Production Head / Plant Head (Garment Manufacturing)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and result-driven Production Head / Plant Head to lead and manage the overall production operations at our garment manufacturing facility in Vapi. The role requires strong expertise in production planning, large-scale manufacturing management, team leadership, and process optimisation.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring on-time shipment, high production efficiency, quality compliance, cost control, and optimal utilisation of factory capacity while managing large production teams and coordinating closely with merchandising, quality, and management teams.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Execution

• Lead end-to-end garment production operations and ensure 100% on-time shipment with strict quality compliance.

• Plan and break down monthly production targets into weekly and daily production plans.

• Monitor production efficiency, line output, and productivity across all departments.

• Ensure optimal capacity utilisation of factory resources and machinery.

• Manage multiple production orders simultaneously (100+ active orders).

• Reduce style changeover time (QCO) and improve overall production flow.

• Ensure production capability to handle 2.5+ lakh garments per month.

Cost & Efficiency Management

• Control and monitor production costs and operational expenses.

• Implement process improvements and automation initiatives for productivity enhancement.

• Conduct production risk analysis and corrective action planning to avoid shipment delays.

• Improve line balancing, workflow efficiency, and floor management.

• Ensure proper preventive maintenance of machinery and equipment.

• Monitor housekeeping and operational discipline on the production floor.

Team Leadership & Factory Management

• Lead and manage large production teams, supervisors, and line managers.

• Recruit, train, and develop production and QC teams.

• Maintain strong coordination between production, IE, quality, maintenance, and merchandising teams.

• Conduct weekly production review meetings with management and HO teams.

• Ensure transparent communication with Directors, Merchandisers, Contractors, and Buyers.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure quality standards are maintained throughout the production process.

• Monitor PPM levels and implement strong QA systems.

• Maintain ISO documentation, compliance standards, and audit readiness.

• Coordinate and support during buyer audits and QC inspections.

Buyer & Contractor Management

• Handle buyer visits, factory audits, and production reviews independently.

• Coordinate with contractors and external production units when required.

• Ensure proper production planning and control for outsourced work.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong expertise in garment manufacturing processes (Woven / Denim preferred)

• Production planning and factory capacity management

• Line balancing and productivity improvement

• Large team leadership and manpower management

• Contractor and vendor coordination

• Strong ERP and production reporting knowledge

• Understanding of European market requirements (added advantage)

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Experience managing factories with 600+ machines

• Ability to handle 100+ styles/orders simultaneously

• Experience managing large-scale production volumes (2.5+ lakh garments per month)

• Strong exposure to modern garment manufacturing technology and machinery

• Strong floor presence and hands-on production leadership

• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight shipment deadlines
