The opportunity

Lead supplier development and product execution for a retail account, taking products from the initial brief through sampling, costing, packaging, purchase orders and shipment. Work with UK design and commercial teams, factories, quality, compliance and logistics to deliver products to the agreed quality, cost and seasonal calendar.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate product development with designers and factories, translate technical requirements into supplier actions and manage sample approvals.
• Maintain development and product lifecycle management trackers, identify delays early and drive recovery actions.
• Lead factory cost negotiations, analyse material, labour and packaging costs, and protect quality, continuity of supply and margins.
• Coordinate packaging structures, artwork, labelling, barcodes and compliance approvals before bulk production.
• Manage critical paths, purchase order information, delivery commitments and order changes from development through shipment.
• Work with quality, logistics and administration teams on goods readiness, documentation and shipment handover.
• Review supplier delivery, quality, claims and responsiveness; support audits, corrective actions and continuous improvement.
• Maintain supplier capability information and identify new products, materials and manufacturing solutions through factory visits, showrooms and trade fairs.

What the team is looking for

• Strong homeware product knowledge, including materials, manufacturing processes, packaging, quality standards and factory capabilities.
• Experience managing products from brief and sampling through costing, production readiness and shipment.
• Confident commercial negotiation, cost analysis, critical path management and supplier performance management.
• Preference for candidates with experience across both retail buying offices and export houses.
• Exposure to UK or European retail accounts, product lifecycle management systems and retailer packaging or compliance portals is desirable.
• Clear communication, accurate reporting and the ability to manage multiple styles, seasonal deadlines and international stakeholders.
• Willingness to work across international time zones and travel to factories, showrooms and trade fairs when required.
• Relevant qualifications in sourcing, merchandising, product development, supply chain, design, engineering or business are desirable.
